Born 2.6.1823 son of Lewis Balfour, minister at Colinton and Henrietta Scott.

Career

Qualified as a vet in 1843 then turned to medicine. [Veterinarian]

Practised in Cramond for a time. F.R.C.P.E. 6.8.1861 Physician to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Heart specialist. [Doctor]

Examiner in medicine to St Andrews University 1870 - 1897.

F.R.S.E. 1879. President R.C.P.E. 1871.
