Antonio Castro

Biography

Antonio Castro (1786-1850) was born in Tulancingo (Hidalgo). He enlisted in the royalist Company of this town fighting the insurgents for ten years. Castro joined the Army of the Three Guarantees in 1821 and was Commander of the Division based in Oaxaca.

In 1831 he was Commander of the Fortress of Perote. During his career in the armed forces he also served as Governor of the Fortress of Acapulco, Commander General of Michoacán,Veracruz and Oaxaca and Commander of the garrisons based in Tulancingo and Apan.
